About Us
St. John's is a small, warm-hearted parish in the hills of northeastern Pennsylvania. We are part of the Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion — a tradition that holds together scripture, reason, and tradition, and welcomes all people.
Our Mission is to embody the love of Christ.

Our Clergy
The Rev'd Ronald R. Miller
Priest in Charge
Fr. Ron was ordained in 1975 in West NY, NJ, and has been presiding at St. John's in Hamlin for the last 20 years.
“What inspires me and what is most rewarding about serving at St. John’s is the people. The folks who gather there really welcome everybody who darkens the door: that is both an inspiration and rewarding since I too am a recipient of the welcome of that community!”
“My ‘style’ of preaching is really exposing the conversations I have with myself during the week and then opening that conversation to the congregation on Sunday mornings. Those “conversations” are invariably about how it is we apply what we believe to how we live; and how we believe (or not) in the world around us. I hope my preaching always proclaims “good news,” encourages people to think about — and re-think — “old ideas,” and encourages people to live life and to live it abundantly.”

Parishioner Testimonials
“Three years ago we walked into St. John’s not knowing what to expect, but we soon knew that we met our family and we found our home. The congregation is the most loving and welcoming I have ever experienced. Fr. Ron’s preaching always resonates. We are so very grateful for the entire St. John’s community—for welcoming us with open arms and showing us what church is truly supposed to be.”
“Saint John’s has been my church and source of comfort since my husband and I moved to NEPA over 8 years ago. Everyone associated with Saint John’s helps make this community a welcoming, compassionate oasis in what often feels like a desert.”
